Socrates, the father of modern science and lover of human reason, established Philosophy (from the Greek words “Philo” meaning Love
and “Sophia” meaning wisdom –) this love of wisdom still exists today.
The myth:
Sophia was a brilliant and beautiful mortal whose wisdom Zeus coveted and whose beauty he could not resist. He observed Sophia from high on Mount Olympus knowing that even he, could not fool her into believing he was a mortal suitor. One morning, inspired by Sophia’s beauty, Zeus disguised himself as a bank of mist and slowly descended Mount Olympus. He swept into the bedchamber of the beautiful Sophia and embraced her. As the mists enveloped her, Sophia inhaled Zeus and Giode (which is the derivation of the word guide) was conceived.
Giode, born of mortal wisdom and divine inspiration, possessed the gift to see through any and all of the mists, fogs and darkness impenetrable to mortal vision. He could discern with clarity the solution to problems through any shroud that obscured the vision and clouded the judgement of other mortals. To Giode, the most impenetrable was transparent.
Yet despite his gifts, Giode made no maps, led no armies nor created any new inventions of his own. Rather he used his powers to guide, to inform and to inspire others. This selflessness, helping others achieve glory instead of himself left Giode without a legacy of great personal triumph and so he is less celebrated than his contemporaries. Perhaps his greatest legacy was to inspire Socrates (and those sages who followed) by his example to discern truth, logic and reason from prevailing confusion or ignorance and to share wisdom selflessly with others.
The reality:
Giode is just a company of mortals. Yet each has developed the skills to enable them to view problems with greater clarity than most. Each one has the practical experience (and academic pedigree) to define, quantify and rationalise problems, to streamline systems and to optimise performance. Perhaps their greatest skills, however, are their abilities to communicate the vision: to develop ideas and skills; to provide guidance and to help others to find their way forward.
We seek to increase the foresight of others, to inspire them to discern their way clearly through the confusion and to empower them to realise their own visions.
Giode undertake seminars, one-to-one tuition, long and short term consultancy, project management and impart team management skills.
Whether you are a professor, professional or pro tem you and your organisation could benefit from Giode’s ability to extend YOUR vision.
